As
mentioned in our banner, we are the only independent shar-pei rescue
that is listed in the Kennel Club 'green book'. This means we have to
fulfil certain criteria to be listed. We have to show the Kennel Club
references from other rescues and veterinary surgeries
that we have worked with to prove we are running a bona fide rescue.
We also have to have our kennels inspected and to receive local council,
police and court clearance so the three aforementioned can hand over
dogs to us.

UPDATE,
AUGUST 2010 - check out our adoptable dogs page for details
of Bruce, Oscar, Shaz, Cody, Oakley, Blue, Ralph, Mungo and Hugo. We
are getting an increased number of dogs we are being asked to help,
so check out our Facebook page (link above) to see the latest dogs we
may not have had the chance to update the website with.
URGENT
- We need urgent help to rehome three shar-pei from a puppy
farm in Wales. There are two 8mths old girls and 1 year old boy. All
are very friendly and in good health. We are looking for foster or permanent
homes quickly as we have a week to find places for them. If you can
help, please contact Paul Saxton ~ Tel: 0115 9191883 or e-mail: admin@sharpeirescue.org.uk

LILAC
FEMALE
This
lovely little girl was found as a stray and in season. She is
due to be booked into be spayed in the next couple of weeks
just in case she was mated before she was found, but she is
available for rehoming immediately.
She
is available through another rescue, but please contact
Paul Saxton for further details ~ Tel: 0115 9191883 or e-mail:

LONE
RANGER & TONTO
These
boys
are available through another rescue, but please contact
Paul Saxton for further details ~ Tel: 0115 9191883 or e-mail:
admin@sharpeirescue.org.uk
Lone
Ranger is a 6 year old neutered male horsecoat. Tonto is a 5 year
old neutered male horsecoat. Both are typical energetic horsecoats
who need a home with adults or dog experienced families with teenage
children. They've lived with cats, but enjoy chasing them so a
cat free home is best.
They
may be rehomed seperately rather than as a pair. Their new families
will be fosterers rather than adopters so the dogs will remain
in the Cinnamon Trust's ownership for the rest of their lives.
The advantage of this is their future vet fees will be taken care
of by the trust. These two were given up due to a bereavement
in the family and are currently being temporarily fostered by
one of the trust's volunteers, so need a loving and stable home
for the rest of their lives.

WARNING
ABOUT THE SUGAR SUBSTITUTE XYLITOL
We
recently nearly lost one of our shar-pei due to ingesting something
that contained Xylitol. It is a popular sweetener everything
from mints and chewing gum to toothpaste. We don't know how
she came into contact with Xylitol, but luckily she was rushed
to the emergency vet and the vet realized what it was quickly,
saving her life. So far her treatment has cost £1000. Xylitol
is highly toxic to dogs and a small amount can cause liver failure
and death within 24 hours if not treated. Please be careful
in both storing or discarding anything with this product as
an ingredient.
