Like all dogs, shar-pei can suffer from certain illnesses and hereditary conditions. Not all shar-pei will suffer from the ailments listed and indeed many shar-pei live long (10-12 years - average of most breeds), happy and healthy lives without suffering any serious disease. But it is worth being aware of potential problems so you and your vet can deal with them promptly should they occur.
